Kex2 Protease
Kex2 Protease is also known as the double-alkaline endopeptidase and YSCF protease. It is a calcium-dependent serine protease responsible for processing the precursors of killer toxin and α-factor within yeast cells. Kex2 protease specifically recognizes and cleaves the peptide bonds of dibasic amino acids at the carboxyl end, like Lys-Arg, Arg-Arg, and Pro-Arg. Unlike Trypsin or Trypsinase, Kex2 cannot recognize and cleave the peptide bonds of single basic amino acids at the carboxyl end, such as arginine or lysine. Additionally, conventional serine protease inhibitors (PMSF, TPCK, TLCK) are ineffective in inhibiting the activity of Kex2 protease.
Morebio Recombinant Kex2 Protease is expressed in E.coli (Escherichia coli), and produced under GMP regulation. Our protease is free of any animal-derived components and without risk of viral contamination from animal sources.
